Your Design Book is built by placing your selections into Item Boxes on the canvas. There are three ways to do this, depending on how you want the selection to behave as the project evolves.
How to add selections to an Item Box:
Add an Item ID
Add a Location
Add an Item directly from the Catalog
Each option serves a different purpose and gives you a different level of control.
Add an Item ID
Use this when one selection should stay consistent across multiple locations.
For example, if all trim throughout the home uses the same paint color, connect the Item ID associated with that paint color to the Item Box. When the trim color changes at the Item ID level, every page using that Item ID updates automatically with the new paint color.
Open your Design Book and select a page to edit. Open any Room + Space on the 'Left-Hand Side' panel. Alternatively, select the Item IDs tab.
Drag the Item ID onto an Item Box on your canvas.
If an item has already been selected for that Item ID, you will see an image and item details appear.
If not, you will see only the Item ID appear in the Item Box. The rest of the Item Box will update automatically once you add the item later.
Add a Location
Use this when a selection should stay flexible and editable by room or space.
For example, if you place the same sconce in multiple rooms but want the option to change it in only one room later, connect the Location instead of the Item ID.
Open your Design Book and select a page to edit. Open any Room + Space on the 'Left-Hand Side' panel. Alternatively, select the Item IDs tab.
Drag the Location onto an Item Box.
A Location tag will appear on the item box on canvas as a reminder that this selection is linked to a specific Location.
Add an item directly from the Catalog
Use this when you want to pick an item on the fly without touching the schedule. This is useful during early design exploration or quick mock-ups.
Click the Box icon in the right toolbar and select Add Item Box to place an Item Box on the page. Once you have an Item Box on the page, click inside the box and select Add Item to open the catalog fly-in.
Search the catalog and select the item you want.
The item will appear on the canvas and is automatically added to the schedule with a new Item ID.
To customize which details appear (image, manufacturer, attributes) see the article on creating and editing Item Boxes.
