You can attach Alternative Items not only to Primary Items, but also to any Dependent Item connected to them.
Add an Alternative to a Dependent
Go to the Item IDs view of the item schedule and select an item.
Scroll to the bottom of the item details and click the Dependent you want to edit.
At the bottom of the Dependent’s detail panel, select Add Alternative and choose the item from the catalog.
