The heart of the design.efficiently design book is adding your design selections to the canvas. There are 3 different ways to add content to your item boxes (for more on item boxes see the article Create an Item Box).
Add Item IDs to item boxes.
Note: You'll add the Item ID to an item box where a particular selection applies to multiple locations in the project and you will always want all of those locations to be the same. For example, you may have trim going in multiple rooms and you plan to keep the paint color the same for all trim throughout the house. In that case, linking the Item ID to the item box allows you to easily update the paint color at the Item ID level if it changes, ensuring it is applied to all item boxes in a project that contain the trim color.
Add Locations to item boxes.
Note: You'll add the Location to an item box where a particular selection is specific to a single location, even if it has been applied to multiple locations. For example, you may have selected the same sconce for multiple rooms but want to reserve the option to adjust that selection as the project evolves. Linking the location to the item box rather than the item ID will ensure that if you change that sconce selection in one room, it will update only on that room page in your design book.
Select Items straight from the design book, bypassing the schedule.
Adding Item IDs
Step 1: Select from the item IDs in your schedule on the left hand side of books. You can toggle between the Rooms and Item schedule at the top.
Step 2: Once you have chosen which item ID you would like to pull onto the canvas, simply click to drag and drop it onto the canvas over the chosen item box.
Note: The Item ID will show a unique ID (in this case, FR-26) next to the item type (and subtype if applicable). If an item has been selected, you will also see an image of that item and the item name.
The follow is how your screen will look if an item has been selected for that item ID:
The following is how your screen will look if you have linked an item ID but have not yet selected an item:
Note: If you have not yet selected an item it is still helpful to pull your item IDs onto the canvas because once you do select an item it will automatically populate onto your book.
Adding Locations
Step 1: Select from the locations in your schedule on the left hand side of books. You can toggle between the Rooms and Item schedule at the top.
Step 2: Once you have chosen which location you would like to pull onto the canvas, simply click to drag and drop it onto the canvas over the chosen item box.
Note: The Location will show the room and space name, with the type and subtype for that Item ID.
Note: You will notice that when the location is represented on the canvas, there will be a small peach location icon next to the item ID.
Adding Items Straight from Design Book
Step 1: Add your first Item by clicking into one of your Item Boxes on the canvas and selecting the Add item button.
Step 2: When the Catalog appears, search for the Item you would like and Select.
Step 3: Your item will populate on the canvas. To remove any attributes that you don't want to appear in the Book, or add other attributes, see the article on Creating an Item Box.
