Objective:
In this module you'll learn to create a basic project, starting with the schedule structure we use in the Design.efficiently platform. Next you'll explore the different options for adding your design selections to a project, ending with a simple design presentation.
Time:
This exercise will take you about 2 hours, as you begin to familiarize yourself with the platform and walk through the basics.
Results:
By the end of the exercise, you'll have created a basic bathroom schedule and simple presentation book.

Grant the support team access to your org by following the instructions here.
Create a new project and name it 'DPP Exercises 1-3'
Upload a set of plans (refer back to Step 1: Plan Management). Feel free to skip the auto-page naming.
From inside the Schedules tab of the project, create a schedule with the following room and spaces (Steps 1-5 of this article - don't create your Locations yet, we'll get to that in just a moment!):
Primary Bathroom
Primary Bathroom (this one will be automatically created – no need to add)
Shower
Water Closet
Add the following template to the primary bath space:
Room: Primary Bathroom
Space: Primary Bathroom
Locations: ‘Primary Bathroom’ template
Add the following locations (steps 6-8 of this article) manually to the shower and water closet spaces:
Room: Primary Bathroom
Space: Shower
Locations:
Plumbing - Shower Drain
Plumbing - Shower Control
Plumbing - Shower Head
Finishes - Wall
Finishes – Floor
Finishes – Curb, Jamb, & Header
Space: Water Closet
Locations:
Plumbing – Toilet
Plumbing – Accessory – Toilet Paper Holder
Finishes – Floor
Finishes – Wall
Lighting – Wall Sconce
Navigate to this lighting manufacturer and select a wall sconce to add to your project. Review this article and complete part 1, ‘Adding an Item to the Catalog', by adding your chosen wall sconce to the catalog
Navigate to this cabinetry manufacturer and select from the door styles (heritage or modern). Move on to part 2 of this article, ‘Adding an Item Using the Chrome Plugin’, by adding your chosen cabinet door style to the catalog
Note: You will need to add the clipper to your chrome browser – instructions are in the article.
Navigate to the cabinetry finish options and select from the finish options. Review this article and add the cabinet finish you’ve selected as an ‘Option’ to the catalog using the clipper
Navigate to your Room schedule and add the new wall sconce to your Water Closet space under the appropriate location (refer to the first section of this article)
Next add the new cabinet door style to your Primary Bathroom space under the appropriate location (Millwork & Casework)
Now add the cabinet finish you’ve selected as an ‘Option’ to your cabinet door style, by following the steps in this article
Add Item IDs and Items to the remaining locations you’ve created (you can choose from any of the items in the catalog)
Create a Design Book
Choose the ‘Primary Bath Remodel’ book layout from the minimalist theme (this theme will be set as the default in your test org)
Delete the mood board page
Click into the 4 item pages and begin dragging your selected items from the left hand side ‘Rooms’ tab of the schedule into the appropriate item box (refer to the first section of this article)
Note: You do not need to adhere to the labels in the item boxes - you can drag any item into any box. The labels are only there to help you with a suggested layout.
Delete any unused item boxes. Add any needed item boxes. Rearrange on the page as desired.
Be sure to include everything you've added to the schedule in your Design Book.
Export your design book to a PDF
Navigate to your ‘Documents’ tab and publish the document by clicking the 'publish' button.
Grab the link that is generated in the documents tab and paste into your browser to check your work.
By the end of Exercise 1, you will have completed the following:
Plans uploaded
Completed Primary Bathroom schedule, including a light fixture and cabinetry added by the chrome plugin (steps 7-9)
Design Book using a pre-created Book Layout ('Primary Bath Remodel'), with all selections included
